Karl and Merissa’s story is one from a movie — two next-door neighbors whose lives unexpectedly intertwined.

Karl moved to California in 2014 and bought his first house in the summer of 2016. He wasn't looking for love, but only a place to call home. He quickly became part of the neighborhood, exchanging waves and conversations with the neighbors on either side. But it wasn't until a full year later that he finally met her... the girl next door.

Merissa had lived on the same street since the day she was born. She had rising aspirations of moving to San Diego, but not before meeting the new neighbor that her dad frequently mentioned. As luck would have it, she finally crossed paths with him one Sunday afternoon as she was returning from her volunteer work at the animal shelter. It didn’t take long for the spark to ignite, as conversations outside between their houses evolved into dinners and date nights. Sensing something special blossoming between them, Merissa chose to stay and see where it might lead.

In their time together, Karl and Merissa have traveled to over ten countries, weathered a global pandemic, and become proud parents to two beloved fur babies (for now). Though opposites in many ways, especially in the pace of their daily lives, Karl and Merissa balance and inspire one another, constantly encouraging growth and bringing out the best in each other.

What started next door has become a lifelong journey, and they are so excited to celebrate the beginning of forever with the people they love most!
